NAIC Producer Licensing Model Act #218, “License Required” and “Nonresident Licensing”: a producer must hold a license for the line of authority in each state where the insurance is transacted. Appointment is a separate requirement under “Appointments” and applies to a producer acting as an agent of the insurer (Fla. Stat. §626.112(1)(a) requires a producer to be currently licensed and appointed; Cal. Ins. Code §1631 and N.Y. Ins. Law §2102(a)(1) are the license analogues). Enforcement levels are set at Admin → Payroll Tax Constants → Producer Licensing.
